World Youth Foundation (WYF), “an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations” is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1994 among whose objectives are to conduct research, implement development program and establish documentation on youth work.

World Youth Foundation will be hosting the “Eat So They Can” Fund Raising Dinner, on 18th October 2008. Coinciding with World Poverty Day, “Eat So They Can” invites people from all around the globe to participate in what is collectively a single huge global dinner party to raise money and awareness for childhood poverty.

The United Nations’ Millennium Development Goal No. 1 is to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger by 2015. Here we find ourselves past the midway point and there are still over 900 million people living on less than USD 1 a day! We cannot fight global hunger alone. We need you -  simply eat a meal, raise money, help stop child poverty.  The event is a co-initiative of the Global Volunteer Network (GVN) and the GVN Foundation.

At WYF we believe children matter and we refuse to accept the gross fact that 18,000 children die every day due to hunger. But we cannot fight child poverty alone. We need your help.

To commemorate this international fundraising initiative, we are inviting  you to join us by donating generously either through sponsorships, advertising in our Souvenir programme book or  purchasing dinner tickets . Individual and corporate donors contributing above RM10,000.00 will be awarded a Certificate of Appreciation, as a token of appreciation.  Forms are available upon request by emailing wyf@po.jaring. my.

Last year ‘Eat So They Can’  raised USD 37,000 for the Kenya Children’s Fund. In 2008, “Eat So They Can” will take place over the weekend of the 18th and 19th of October and aims to raise USD 100,000.  Funds collected through this year’s event will be extended to benefit the African Children’s Fund and selected local initiatives which will aid children that WYF currently supports.

By addressing both immediate and long-term issues, WYF hopes to make a significant impact on the lives of the needy children in the programme that we support.

Together, we will change the lives of children around theworld – one dinner at a time.
