China-ASEAN Art Tilt Now Accepts Entries
FILIPINO ARTISTS below 50 years old are invited to join the China-ASEAN Youth Artwork and Creativity Contest 2008 to be held in Nanning City, Guangxi City, China in October.
The competition is part of the activities of the annual China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning City.
Participants may submit not more than two entries in either oil painting or sculpture categories.
No size requirement is given to painting but sculptures should be within 120 cm X 120 cm.
Pictures of the artworks not exceeding seven inches may be submitted to the organizing committee for the first rounf of selection. A registration fee of RMB30 is required.
When selected, the artist will be asked to send the artwork and pay a jury fee of RMB100 or US$30.
In the oil painting category, the first prize winner will received RMB30,000, two second prize winner will receive RMB20,000 each and three third prize winners will go home with RMB10,000.
In sculpture, the Golden Award of RMB60,000 will be awarded to the five winners and the Silver Award of RMB20,000 will be given to 10 winners.
Entries in sculpture category must suggest China-ASEAN “unity, cooperation, and harmonious development; the innoation and compatibility of Nanning city in building a regional international city.” Winning works will be built in the China-ASEAM business park in Nanning City, CHINA.
In both categories, 100 selected artworks will be awarded RMB4,000. Excellence Award of RMB 10,000 will be given to 25 winnerss.
Winning works will be exhibited during the CAEXPO ‘08 in October and will be featured in a book.
Last year, Lucilo “Jojo” Sagayno , a faculty of the University of San Carlos Fine Arts Departmet, won Excellence Award, while his fellow Cebuano Artist Jun Impas and Savier Palanca were shortlisted as finalists.
