La Salle Institute of Governance Launches “Images and Inspirations: Good Citizenship Photo Essay Contest”
Concept
The La Salle Institute of Governance in partnership with the EDSA People Power Commission and the Presidential Anti-Graft Commission invites all photographers to join Images and Inspirations: Good Citizenship Photo Essay Contest. The contest aims to (1) build general awareness on good citizenship; (2) mobilize support for the promotion and advocacy of good citizenship; (3) to involve and develop the youth as pro-active agents in promoting and advocating good citizenship; and (4) To create and broaden a network of individuals and organizations from various sectors that will support future activities and initiatives for the promotion of good citizenship. The winning entries and finalists will be showcased and recognized in the Good Citizenship Photo Exhibit Caravan which will tour universities and colleges in the country to promote good citizenship.

1st Prize — Php 10,000.00
2nd Prize — Php 7,500.00
3rd Prize — Php 2,500.00
Mechanics
1. Photo entries should tackle the role of the Filipino youth as citizens in promoting good citizenship values, principles, and practices— Faith in God, Unity, Patriotism, Work, Respect for Life, Respect for Law and Government, Truth, Justice, Freedom, Equality, Peace, Promotion of the Common Good, Concern for the Family and Future Generations, Concern for the Environment and Order.
2. The contest is open to all amateur and student photographers nationwide.
3. Each contestant can only submit two (2) photographs/ entries at the most.
4. Participants should use digital format cameras in taking photographs. Images may either be in color or in black & white. Photographs must have a minimum of 5 mega pixels @ 300 dpi or 2496×1664 resolution (Medium Quality). The organizers of the contest will be the ones tasked to print the photographs in 8×10 prints.
5. Participants can submit the electronic file/s of their entries to imagesandinspirations@yahoo.com on or before August 31, 2008.
6. The La Salle Institute of Governance, as contest organizers will have full rights to reproduce, exhibit & publish all official entries for purposes concerning the Good Citizenship Photo Exhibit and other activities under the Information and Communication Tools for Good Citizenship Project, with due acknowledgement and recognition of the photographer.
7. To formalize a contestant’s participation, alongside with their entries, participants should note in their email the following information:
Photographers’ name, address, contact details (telephone number, mobile, and email address)
Institution affiliated with (if applicable identify school, organization, corporation)
Title of entry
A phrase/quote/sentence that inspired the photograph
8. An email message from the organizer will confirm and validate your entry.
9. Photos which have won national or international competitions are disqualified.
10. The contest finalists and winners will be determined by a committee that will be identified by the contest organizers.
11. The winners and finalists will be judged according to the following criteria:
Relevance to the Theme (30%)
Creativity and Style (20%)
Composition (20%)
Technicality (20%)
Uniqueness (10%)
12. Winners and finalists will be notified through email, mobile, and telephone.
