The National Youth Parliament Alumni Association, Inc. (NYPAA) is inviting the FILIPINO YOUTH to the upcoming 7th National Youth Parliament (7th NYP) which will be convened on October 19 to 22, 2008  at Davao City.

 

The NYPAA is composed of the delegates to the National Youth Parliament (NYP). Mandated by Republic Act No. 8044, also known as “The Youth in Nation-Building Act,” the National Youth Commission (NYC) calls biennially for such.

 

Our young representatives have been carefully chosen based on equal representation. During the plenary (think: Batasan Plenary Hall), we formulate resolutions that promote youth rights, welfare, and participation in national development. These resolutions, then, serve as the Government’s guide for policy formulation, program development and prioritization (the Alternative Learning System of DEP-ED is an example).

 

As APOLITICAL policy-makers and lobbyists, we also participate actively, although silently, in the passage of laws such as in the Clean Air Act and the New Juvenile Justice Act. Policy proposals, like the SK Reform Bill and some local ordinances, are also pending.

 

Hence, if you would like to be the change that you want to see in our country, kindly download the 7th NYP Application Form at www.youth.net.ph. Note, however, that the QUALIFICATIONS Section is unreadable. So, as actually printed, the following are the QUALIFICATIONS of an Applicant:

1.  Filipino citizen, between 15 to 30 yeas old;
2.  Residing, studying or working at the place/institution for not less than six (6) months;
3.  Must be a president/officer of a youth organization (School, Community, Civic, Religious, Professional, Tribal, and the like);
4. Must not be a member of any previous National Youth Parliament;
5. Must be an SK Provincial/City Federation President, if representing the SK; and,
6. Must not have been convicted of any crime involving moral turpitude.

 
Lastly, as part of the Regional Screening Committee, we have additional requirements for you:

1.  Knowledge of Parliamentary Procedure (we’re strict on this);
2.  Knowledge of how to pass a law; 
3.  Knowledge of how to craft bills and resolutions; and,
4.  Knowledge of the The Youth in Nation-Building Act and the New Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act (this will be amended).

Deadline of Application submission is on JUNE 16, 2008 (MONDAY).
