1st National Seminar on Community-Based Rural Tourism
the 1st National Seminar on Community-Based Rural Tourism will be held on 26 - 28 March 2008 at Marriott Hotel, Cebu City, PHILIPPINES.
The overview of the program is as follows:
- Rural areas in the Philippines are increasingly becoming popular destinations of city dwellers for a taste of countryside life.
- Visitors to rural areas look for the essential four in rural tourism: the attraction, activities, authentic rural food and amenities of the area.
- The rise of activities such as trekking, mountain climbing, rafting, bird watching, fishing and other outdoor explorations added to the indigenous food offerings and festivities of a particular area enthralls people from the urban areas to the countryside.
- The development of rural tourism is a catalyst in the economic development of a particular province.
Its objectives is as follows:
- To enhance the participants knowledge and appreciation on the concept of rural tourism as a strategy for enhancing and creating economic opportunities in rural areas.
