Call for Entries for Eastern Horizons Photo Contest 2008

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Centre for East Asia and the Pacific (UNODC RCEAP), through the regional project, “Promotion of Public
Awareness on the Dangers of Drugs in East Asia (RASG69) is holding a digital photo contest reflecting the work of UNODC in the following categories:
1. Human trafficking
2. Corruption
3. Terrorism
4. Illicit drugs and HIV/AIDS
5. Drug abuse prevention and education
6. Increasing use of synthetic drugs
7. Drugs and family relations
Eligibility
- The contest is open to nationals of 11 countries covered by Project RASG69: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam who are at least 18 years old, except UNODC staff and family members.
- Entry must be an original work.
- Participants are solely responsible for obtaining necessary authorizations/clearance with respect to the rights, sensitivities, and culture of persons depicted in the photo submitted for the contest.
- Photographs must be in digital format with minimum size of 1300 x 1942pixels, and not larger than 1,024k (1MB). Photographs must be submitted as an email attachment to <eastern.horizons@unodc.org>.
- Filenames of the entries should be the same as that in the entry form. The place where the photo was taken should be included as well as a brief description of the photograph.
- One person can submit a maximum of 5 photographs.
- Receipt of entries will be acknowledged. Deadline for submission of entries is 29 February 2008. Winners will be notified by email on 15 March 2008.
- Participants must complete an entry form for each photo submitted (see attached).
- There is no registration fee to join the contest.
- One winning photo will be chosen for each of the above categories.
- Through their participation, the photographers agree to their submitted entries becoming the property of UNODC RCEAP, who reserves the right to use any of the submitted photographs for its various publications, exhibits, presentations, conferences, workshops, website, and other public awareness and advocacy initiatives. In the event that any of the photos would be used by UNODC RCEAP, proper credits would be given.
- The judges’ decision is final. Winning Entries
- One photo will be chosen to be the winner for each of the areas of work of UNODC RCEAP.
Awards and Recognition
The winners will:
• Receive a certificate and a plaque (sent by courier) from UNODC RCEAP.
• Have its winning photo featured in Eastern Horizons, with the due attribution and credit to the photographer.
